Our season runs as follows:
Open to visitors from the end of May to the end of October at 14 Tuttle Road, Cumberland Foreside, Maine - off Route 1 at the Tuttle Road exit.
We accept requests for our "Dig on Demand" program. Digging for herbaceous peonies occurs between October 1 and 10 each year. Once a request is received, we will confirm whether we can dig or not, and quote a price. If this is acceptable, you can send us a check or money order. Then we dig and mail your root divisions to you. Prices in this category are typically $20 and up.
After October 10, a list of remaining root divisions and their prices will be posted to this site. Orders will be filled as available.
For the starting gardener with peonies, we also select 4 or 5 peonies to offer in quantity at our on-site sale in mid-September. We try to price these at under $20.
Peonies IN OUR GARDEN
The botanical sections of peonies include both tree and herbaceous species. Much breeding has been done to enhance plant uses for cut flowers and landscape designs. It is also possible to plant for a succession of bloom from mid-spring through early summer.
Each year, our garden adds new varieties from breeders here in the U.S. and abroad. Most of our peonies are registered with the American Peony Society and we maintain our plants' identity by cultivar names. However, we are also actively introducing new peonies from seed as they are deemed worthy.
